Ijumu LG Chairman Declares State Of Emergency On Security, Meets With Traditional Rulers, Miyetti Allah, Security Agencies

The Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area and in Kogi State, Hon. Taufiq Isa, on Monday, convened a security meeting with Traditional rulers, security agencies, Maiyatti Allah association and community development presidents in the Local Government Secretariat in Iyara, with the aim of finding lasting solutions to the security challenges of the area.

The Chairman who thanked traditional rulers in his domain for their maximum support since he took over as the chief security officer of the Local Government in 2016, further sought for their continued support to ensure maximum peace and security in the area.

On his part, the Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom enjoined stakeholders of the local government to prioritize the security of their various communities, calling for support for the chairman in his fight against criminality in the land.

The Ologidi of Ogidi,Oba R.O Sule said,this meeting is timely. He thank God our Executive Chairman is back on the sit because he knows the rudiments of security. The traditional ruler emphasized that,we need to make firm decisions to tackle insecurity permanently

The Obaro of Iyamoye, Olu of Iyah Gbede,Olu of Ayeh Gbede,Elleta of Iyara,Olu of Ekirin Adde,Alayere of Ayere,Olu of Ayetoro Gbede,Ologale of Ogale,Oba Aduge, lend their voices on different security challenges they are facing as a community.

The community presidents of Ayere,Iyara, Okoro Gbede and Iyamoye emphasized that the way and manner fulani herdsmen are destroying farm lands must be properly checked.

The State Secretary of Maiyatti Allah, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammed appreciated the Chairman of the Local Government for his hospitality and fatherly role in ensuring his domain is crime free. He noted that his people are peace loving, and pledged his commitment to working closely with the Chairman and other relevant stakeholders to identify and fish out bad eggs amongst them.

The further reiterate his commitment to tackling security challenges, the Chairman declared a State of Emergency on Security. Banned traditional ruler from receiving or allocating lands to migrants without the knowledge and approval of the Olujumu of Ijumu Land. He also stopped the practice of herdin of cattle by underaged herders.

The meeting was attended by the Vice Chairperson of the Local Government, Hon. (Mrs.) Racheal Otitolaiye, Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Ibikunle Alex Obaropo, Supervisory Councilors and Senior Special Assistants.
