Several jurists from different courts of jurisdiction, alongside well wishers have lauded the retired Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Henry Adebola Olusuyi describing his time as the Chief Judge of the State as impactful with remarkable giant strides in the judicial sector

The remarks were made during the valedictory session held in honour of Justice Henry Adebola Olusuyi who was bowing out of the bench after attaining 65 years of age.

The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ibrahim Mohammed Sanni, described the tenure of Justice Olusuyi as very impactful despite its short length noting that he was leaving his footprint in the sands of time.

He urged that the retiring Judge to use his time in retirement to give attention to his family and health which might have suffered neglect in his periods of service in the Judiciary

In a similar remark, Chairman, Nigeria Bar Association, Lokoja Branch, Mr. Sam Owoyomi noted that the retiring Chief Judge has taken pragmatic steps towards repositioning the judiciary based on fairness, Justice and Equity while he described him as a cool, calm, collected, focused, easy going and humble person

Also Mr. U.O Sule on behalf of Senior Advocates of Nigerian (SAN) opined that Justice Olusuyi was a man of destiny who has the complete attribute of a Judge who listens courteously, answers wisely, while he considered both parties calmly in his best wise manner while he offers impartial judgment.

The Retired Chief Justice in his speech noted that his service to the state has afforded him the opportunity to contribute his token to the administration of justice

He hammered that for a country that professed to follow the rule of law and the principle of separation of power there was no alternative to enshrining the independence of the judicial arm of government

He added that all the three arms of government must work together to achieve the goals set out in the constitution while the judicial arm particularly guarantees that the citizens live a life of dignity and wee not deprived of their right to life as enshrined in the constitution

He also admonished judges to live up to high expectations of the public opining that the independence and the integrity of the judiciary would not be difficult to maintain as long as the institution is elevated above individuals

He further urged that more attention should be paid to the welfare of judges and their supporting staff while their working environment should also be made conducive to facilitate optimal performance as the massive infrastructural decay should be addressed urgently.
