KGIRS Interim Management Committee Submits Report To Gov. Bello, Makes Far Reaching Recommendations

The Interim Management Committee of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service headed by Hon. Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris has submitted the report of their activities to the Gov. Yahaya Bello.

The report which was submitted yesterday at the Government House Lokoja, made some far reaching recommendations as solutions towards improving the corporate governance of the service.

Similarly, the Committee recommended sound internal control measures that will lead to improve revenue generation for the State.

Still contained in the report of the IMC was the improve Welfare of staff and capcity building that would meet the contemporary method of revenue generation.

Recalled that the Gov. Yahaya Bello, had on 22 September, 2020 suspended the management staff of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service.
The State Government’s suspension of the former management of the KGIRS was also predicated on violation of corporate governance in the service.

The Commissioner for Finance, Mukadam Idris was appointed to head the six man Interim Management Committee made to oversee the day to day activities of the agency for three months which ended with the submission of the report.

Other members of the IMC include: The State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Mr. Ibrahim Sani Mohammed (SAN); the Auditor General of the State, Alhaji Yakubu Okala; and the Auditor General for Local Governments, Alh. Usman Ododo, while the Accountant General of the State, Alhaji Momoh Jibrin is to serve as the secretary.

Receiving the report, Gov. Yahaya Bello promised to look into the recommendations of the committee with a view to reposition the KGIRS.
