KGSG to combat typhoid with over N400m »

Disturbed by the rising prevalence of typhoid fever across the country, Kogi State Government is setting aside the sum of over N400m to tackle this health challenge in the state.

The Director General, Media and Publicity, Evangelist Kingsley Fanwo revealed this on Wednesday in a briefing with journalists in Government House, Lokoja.

Evangelist Kingsley who said that typhoid fever had become most prevalent in the country after malaria from statics, added that the New Direction Government was committed to the people’s well being.

“Since inception of the present administration under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello, priority has been consistently on adequate healthcare delivery to the people as one of its thematic areas.”

According to Evangelist Fanwo, the government would stop at nothing to ensure citizens had access to quality healthcare, which had further been exemplified in the recent door to door healthcare services to the people of Kogi across the senatorial zones. He said that the funds will be used to ensure that adequate drugs and equipment for the treatment of typhoid are made available, and also to carry out sensitization on prevention and management.

Similarly, Fanwo informed that council also directed the Ministry of Works to as a matter of urgency fix all the potholes in the major roads in Kogi State to ease movement for commuters.

His words; ” the governor who is the chairman of the State Executive Council has directed its ministry of works to fill all the potholes in our major roads with immediate effect. The Oworo bridge and Takete bridge to be addressed from the work plan the committee will come up with.”

He equally thanked council members for the roles played during the gubernatorial primaries of the All Progressives Congress and urged them to sustain their support in the November 16 polls to afford the party the opportunity to coast home to victory.
