KGSG’s PPP policy records another plus as it facilities bilateral economic cooperation with Republic of Bangladesh

The Public Private Partnership (PPP) policy of Kogi State Government under the Directorate of Arc Bob Achanya is breaking many new grounds the latest being the facilitation of a partnership with the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

The Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello in his Private sector development initiative of PPP therefore provided the platform for the organized private sector under the Kogi State Chamber of Commerce Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KOCCIMA) and the Bangladeshi government to engage in a two-day activity with the hosting of the Bangladesh High Commissioner to Nigeria, Shameem Ahsan in Lokoja the Kogi State Capital.

Mr Ahsan expressed the desire of his nation to provide the necessary requirement by his office to ensure a mutually beneficial relationship between the two parties and looks forward to the take-off of the joint ventures agreements in the pharmaceuticals, ceramics and agricultural sectors where Bangladesh has comparative advantage and expertise.

He applauded Governor Bello for his leadership quality and public private collaboration which resulted in the collaboration, noting that with a robust private sector in the state as being envisioned, Kogi’s economic growth would shoot through the roof in no distant time.

The High Commissioner told private sector players and other stakeholders that there is need for the state to sustain its security attainment to further attract Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) and invited KOCCIMA to put together a trade delegation to visit Bangladesh soon.

In his address, Governor Yahaya Bello who represented by the SSG, Mrs Folashade Ayoade expressed the desire of state for capacity building for the state public service to ensure quality knowledge transfer. He informed the High Commissioner that Kogi has a capable, educated and responsible youthful population that can support Bangladesh’s labour need in all areas.

Speaking, the Director General, Kogi State Bureau of Public Private Partnerships (BPPP) Arc. Bob Achanya thanked the Governor for supporting the Bureau to thrive for the economic development of the state.

He said the visit by the High Commissioner was a result of the Governor’s resilience and dogged determination to ensure a robust private sector driven economy which Governor Bello demonstrated by establishing the PPP office to implement and facilitate the attraction of foreign and local direct investments to Kogi state.

He promised that the emerging Kogi – Bangladesh Bilateral Economic Relations would be mutually beneficial as Bangladesh and Kogi have a lot in common and could learn from each other. Arc. Achanya said the ultimate aim of the facilitation was to ensure that Kogi becomes the hub of Bangladesh investments in Nigeria noting that today, Bangladesh is a world leader in the pharmaceuticals ceramics, Agricultural technology, among others.
