Kogi 2023: Avoyi Team hosts townhall meeting, canvasses vote for Ododo

A political support group, the Avoyi Team for Ododo have scaled up sensitization to galvanise support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman in Kogi State.

The group, in partnership with Amina Daniya Network for Ododo, today organised a town hall meeting and medical outreach for the people to sensitise, orientate and persuade people to vote the APC candidate in the forthcoming election.

Delivering her address at the event which took place in the glass house, Lokoja, the convener of the group, Mrs. Billie Avoyi Nwogu said the essence of the meeting was to galvanise support for the APC candidate, Ododo Usman.

She acknowledged that the state has witnessed tangible and rapid multi-sectoral development, she said the establishment of the Reference Hospital Okene, two universities and several model schools by Gov. Yahaya Bello within seven years has made the state a medical tourist destination and a fountain of knowledge.

Avoyi cited other developmental milestones of Bello administration, declaring that Ododo, the Auditor General for Local Governments, was one of the brains behind the evolution of a 32-year development plan for the state. He also expressed optimism about the prospects of a greater and even development of the state by an Ododo-led administration.

She described Ododo as a silent reformer and a critical member of the new direction government who is rightly suited to continue from where governor Bello would pass on the batton of leadership.

She called on the people people to unite behind Ododo in other to ensure continuity of good governance. He urged everyone to return to their various polling units to collaborate with other stakeholders in canvassing support for the APC governorship candidate.

Mrs. Hannah Odiyo in her goodwill message said the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello has established inclusiveness in governance and has placed Kogi State on the map for upholding the affirmative action for women.

She said voting for Ododo would ensure consolidation, urging the women to take back the message of Ododo to the grassroots to ensure maximum victory at the poll.

Wife of the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Mrs Zainab Ahmadu, said Governor Yahaya Bello has done so much for women in Kogi State and has given them opportunities to contribute to decision making process.

She said the choice of Ododo as the APC candidate is a plus for women of the state as he would build on the inclusiveness legacy of governor Yahaya Bello.

She called on women to jettison primordial ethnic agendas and unite behind APC and it’s candidate who are for the overall development of Kogi State.

The CMD of Reference Hospital, Okene, Prof Solomon Avidime in his address commended Governor Yahaya Bello for delivering development to every sector especially his policy of inclusiveness which has empowered women and youths in the state.

He said the achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello would be a waste without a worthy successor who would ensure consolidation, adding that the choice of Usman Ododo as the APC governorship candidate is a right decision which guarantees the consolidation of good governance.

He called on women and youths to be ambassadors of the campaign to ensure that Ododo emerges the winner of the November 11 governorship election to ensure the continued development of all sectors.

An APC chieftain, Hon. Yakubu Adabenege (Fancy), who was represented at the event, commended the Avoyi Team for Ododo and Amina Daniya Network for Ododo for sensitizing the women on the right choice as regards the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

He said the APC candidate, Hon. Usman Ododo is commited to furthering the women inclusiveness policy of governor Yahaya Bello and creating the enabling environment for women to thrive.

He urged them to sustain their support as the candidate would not disappoint the confidence reposed.

Highlights of the event was the medical outreach to over 2,500 beneficiaries, the panel discussion which featured some government appointees, youth leader, technocrats and others.
