Kogi @ 30: Gov. Bello receives youths on 1 million march, hail them for upholding peace in the state
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on Friday received a cross section of Kogi Youths who embarked on a 1 million march across Lokoja metropolis as part of activities celebrating the 30 years anniversary of the State.
The Youths came together under the umbrella of NYCN (National Youth Council of Nigeria), NAKOSS (National Association of Kogi State Students), NANS JCC (National Association of Nigeria Students Joint Campus Committee and its respective members.
The Governor who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Pharm. Abdulkareem Jamiu hailed the youths for upholding peace and togetherness in the state noting that without their continued cooperation, governance would have been very difficult and successes attributed to the his administration would be near impossible.
He noted that Kogi State’s story has been largely different because the youths have refused to avail themselves as instruments to perpetrate violence adding that instead they believed in the administration’s focus on uniting the state while also following through as leaders in their respective zones.
He affirmed that his administration from inception and six years running have continued to ensure the fulfilment of the promises made on his first inauguration top of which among many others was his commitment tackle insecurity head on
While assuring the youths of the his commitment to continue to prioritize their needs he stated that Kogi State was recording tremendious progress and his leadership was charting the cause of a new Kogi state they would be proud of
In their remarks National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) commended Governor Yahaya Bello’s for his proactveness in tackling insecurity, infrastructural decay and involving the youths in governance of the state.
Kogi Youth Council Chairman, Ambassador Ogohi Samuel Usman stated that while assessing the journey so far in Kogi,Governor Bello has also excelled in the area of youth empowerment and gender sensitive in governance amongst others.
According to him, “In the last thirty years, the issue of security of lives and property, youth empowerment and gender consideration received much attention”
On security of lives and property, Ambassador Usman described the present day Kogi under the leadership of Governor Bello as most peaceful state in Nigeria.
He attested that since Bello came on board, cases of kidnapping, armed robbery and other forms of Criminalities have reduced to the barest minimum.
The youth leader also maintained that Bello’s administration had continued to embark on funding of skills acquisition training for the Youths as well as their involvement in agricultural activities to make them self-reliant.
He extolled the Governor for appointments of the youths into various political positions since he came on board.
