Kogi Assembly Commisson Chair lauds Gov Bello on commitment to independence of other arms of government by Samuel Enimola

Chairman of Kogi State Assembly Service Commission, Alhaji Malik Adams has said that the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello’s assent to the Bill granting full autonomy and constituting members of the Assembly Commission has demonstrated his special interest in the independence of other arms of government.

The Chairman who stated this while addressing staff of the Assembly stated that the State House of Assembly has benefited tremendously from the present adminstration than all the previous administrations combined.

He revealed that granting of full autonomy to the State House of Assembly had further put the State among the states that have granted autonomy to their legislative arms of government.

Alhaji Adams pointed out that before Alhaji Yahaya Bello adminstration, the Assembly as an institution was in shambles particularly in the area of adminstration which has dampened the morale of members of staff.

He therefore commended Governor Alhaji Bello for bringing sanity to the body by strictly adhering to civil service rules and regulations.

According to him, the renovation and facelift given to the Assembly complex and the increase of the monthly imperest of the body further demonstrated his special interest and desire to ensure the independence of the legislature as a catalyst for good governance.

While charging the staff to reciprocate the state governor’s magnanimity by being committed to duty at all times, he said that the commission would not condone indiscipline, truancy, rumour mongering , religious bigotry and ethnic chauvinism and admonished them to be more dedicated in the discharge of their duties.

The chairman then used the opportunity to reiterate his resolve to abide by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the state civil service rules and regulations and the laws guiding the operation of the commission in carrying out the onerous responsibilities bestowed on him by the state government.

He commended the Speaker, Hon.Mathew Kolawole and other members and the Parliamentary Association of Assembly Of Nigeria ( PASSAN) for their efforts in the realization of the autonomy granted the State House of Assembly.

In his remarks, the Clerk of the Assembly, Pastor Mathew Shaibu promised the staff readiness to ensure the success of the Commission and prayed God to give them the wisdom and strength to pilot the affairs of the Assembly.
