Kogi Assembly Speaker, Members Conclude Security Awareness Workshop in Abuja »

The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf and other members of the Assembly have concluded a five – day security awareness workshop in Abuja.

This is contained in a press statement signed and made available to the media by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed.

The statement recorded that the workshop, which held at the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), Bwari, Abuja, was anchored by Absolute Security Services.

According to the statement, the Speaker, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf, in his remarks at the end of the programme, applauded the organisers of the programme, stressing that the place of security of lives and property in contemporary Nigeria cannot be down-played.

He promised that members of the State Assembly would take measures necessary to put the knowledge gained from the workshop to good use, adding that the time to take safety of lives of every Nigerian serious is now.

The Speaker called on the organisers to go a step further by making such workshop a regular event to acquaint public office holders and members of the public with necessary tools that would ensure their safety at all times.

In their reactions, other members of the Assembly, who also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the workshop stressed that the knowledge gained cannot be quantified and that it would go a long way to safeguard their lives and that of their loved ones.
