Kogi CAN laud state govt. for making security a priority

The Christian Association of Nigeria, Kogi State chapter has lauded the state Government for taking the security of its citizen as a top priority, noting that the Christian body in the state would continue to give its collaboration and support to the administration in all regards.

The CAN chairman, Bishop John Ibenu in his address during the associations Christmas visit to the State Governor noted that no doubt the nation was troubled and there was a need of an able, God fearing, decisive leader who values the sanctity of lives and would judiciously put to use the resources of the nation.

In view of this, the chairman noted that the association acknowledged the calls made on Governor Yahaya Bello to contribute his quota to national development and they identified with such political ambition, stood by same and would help in the best possible ways, rendering prayers for God’s will to prevail.

The State Chairman noted that the Association wanted to remind the state government of the need to harness the numerous mineral deposits in the state for human and economic development, adding that with the available statistics from what they observed across the state, virtually every local government was endowed with a mineral resources or more.

While congratulating the state government for the recent enlistment as an oil producing state, the chairman obliged that such feet took hard work, strategic and deliberate efforts to attain.

The State CAN leadership similarly thanked the state government for its ongoing efforts in infrastructural development mentioning road projects, word class hospital construction, the newly established Confluence University of Science and Technology as well as the ongoing Ganaja Flyover and many other work being done.

Bishop Ibenu again reiterated the associations appreciation to the state government under the leadership of Governor Bello in fulfilling the promise made six years ago in his first year in office and breaking a 28years jinx of the non existence of a worship center for Christians in the government house of the state.

While attesting to the fact that the Government House Chapel was one of its kind edifice in Northern Nigeria, he acknowledged that the government have supported the Christian body with a monthly allowance and that the peaceful co existence in the state between religions was not far fetched from the government’s effort through the establishment of Kogi State Inter Religious Council.

Represented by his Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja, Governor Bello expressed his gratitude to the Christian body for always amplifying the good works of his administration wherever they found themselves, particularly his religious friendliness and good gestures to Christian body as the governments get good feedback and response.

The governor extended greetings to the National President of the Association, Rved. Dr. Samson Ayokunle for the support, prayers and counsel as well as his visit to the state during the dedication of the Chapel, alongside other leaders of the Christian fold in the country.

“We appreciate God for making Kogi one of the safest in Nigeria, despite the challenges encountered in recent times which could not be compared to some other neigbouring state” he asserted

He noted that one of the greatest task of a government was securing its territory, which required focus, funding and sacrifice but more importantly divine intervention of God.

The Governor however promised not to rest on its oars but to keep lifting up the bar of security and safety higher adding that recent criminal elements who perpetrated evil acts in some part of kogi west were currently in custody and under investigation.

The Governor mentioned that such would serve as a deterrent and a sound warning to intending crime actors to desist from kogi state.

Prayers were offered for the Nation, Kogi State and the leadership and citizenry and particularly for the safe return of the mother of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, who was recently kidnapped by some unidentified persons.
