Kogi Commissioner, Kingsley Fanwo appointed as patron of Standup for Women Society

Women in Kogi state have been charged to ensure that the society is free of evil deeds.

The State Commissioner for Information and Communications Hon. Kingsley Fanwo gave the charge while receiving the state executive of Standup for Women Society(SWS) in his office in Lokoja.

Hon. Fanwo stated that the role of women in the society is paramount and advised them to be committed to the welfare of the less privileged in the society.

According to him if women can take the bull by the horns to stand for justice, fairness and equity, the society will move forward calling on women in general to work towards an evil free society.

The Commissioner pointed out that without women, the society cannot be good, stressing that God created them to be helpers to the family and the society at large appeaing to stakeholders in the State to stand up for women at all times.

Speaking on his appointment as Patron for SWS, Hon Fanwo affirmed his commitment and dedication to justify the confidence reposed in him.

The Commissioner, particularly assured the state chapter of the association of the Ministry’s support especially in the propagation of their activities in the state and Nigeria at large disclosing that the ministry will mandate all media houses under the Ministry to carry out the activities of the association.

The Hon. Commissioner expressed appreciation to the association for giving him the appointment calling on them not to relent in their efforts to fight for the common man in the society.

Speaking, the state chairperson of (SWS) Mrs Muslimat Itopa stressed that the SWS is an “NGO with the aim to stand for the wellbeing and welfare of women and to promote capacity building and economic empowerment”.

Mrs Itopa also intimated the Commissioner of their forthcoming inauguration of the association appealing for his support towards the event.
