Kogi COS bags most supportive personality award, gifts 250 thousand support to entrepreneurs through foundation

Chief of Staff, Pharm. Abdulkareem Muhammed Jamiu was on Saturday awarded as the most supportive personality of the year in recognition of his several humanitarian endeavours in both health and education sector across the three senatorial region of the state.

The Chief of Staff who was represented by his Special Assistant, Hon. Abubakar Mujahid Glassman awarded entrepreneurs 50,000 naira support fund through his Charity foundation The Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku Youth Empowerment Foundation (PAAYEF).

In his address, Pharm. Abdulkareem Muhammed Jamiu commended the organizers of the initiative for their mission to foster peace, unity, tourism potential, progress, and development of Kogi state through their platform which was in line with His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello’s vision for Kogi State.

He dedicated the Award to his Boss and Mentor, His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State whom he described as the Man of the Moment who created the enabling environment for him to undertake many of the interventions as the governor was a worthy role model in similar regard

He noted that God has used him to generously touch lives through his charity foundation while promoting the visions of his boss.

According to him“Some of these numerous intervention ranged from helping victims of severe medical conditions to supporting the people with palliatives in critical moments, granting scholarships, skills acquisition, and philanthropy.

Through its educational outreach program, a project specifically designed to facilitate access to high-quality educational opportunities for children from several communities in Kogi State, Nigeria the foundation had paid WAEC and NECO fees for indigent students all across Kogi State since 2016, aside from other intervention for students in different higher institution while it was planning to commece another round of payment of WAEC and NECO fee in 2021

PAYEF under its health intervention has treated 104 Indigent patients from January 2020 till date as part of humanitarian services it is created for as these patient were selected from across the 3 Senatorial districts not minding their Local Government of origin, ward, political party affiliation, religion, tribe, and clanish sentiment.

Thirty of the patients had major surgical conditions for which they had surgeries done for conditions like multinodular goitre- subtotal thyroidectomy, multiple femoral fractures- open redction and internal fixations, cataract- cataract surgery (lens replacement), advanced soft tissue sarcoma of left upper limb- above elbow amputation, peritonitis(bowel perforation)- exploratory laparotomy, ruptured ectopic pregnancy- exploratory laparotomy

Others were obstructed labour- caesarean section, Ruptured Appendix- Exploratory laparotomy/Appendectomy, Strangulated hernia- Herniorrhaphy, Hydrocoele- Hydrocoelectomy, Bilateral Diabetic foot- Below Knee Amputation with wheelchairs provided, Stage I breast cancer- Radical mastectomy

Other conditions include, Congenital heart defect, Soft tissue SARCOMA of the chest wall, Advanced Breast cancers, Glaucoma, Diabetic foot(amputated), Refractive error- Eye glasses provided as well as several other health interventions”.
