Kogi COS urges NGO to advocate against cultism, drug abuse among youths

Kogi state Chief of Staff, Pharmacist Abdulkareem Moh’d Jamiu has urged Non Governmental Organisations to advocate against the prevalence of cultism and drug abuse among youths which have increased the rate of crimes In the society.

The Chief of Staff made this known on Wednesday while meeting with Heema Empire (a Non Governmental Organisation, dedicated to catering for the concerns of children, youths and elderly ones) who were hosted in his office.

The COS expressed that there was a huge derailment of young persons in the society from foundational African beliefs and conduct of decency and good morals, while he also asked the NGO to take interest in educating young woman against engaging in such acts.

The COS recalled his first encounter with the NGO and how impressed he was, which led to his decision to support them, noting that he emotionally gravitates towards anyone passionate about the needy as it requires a humble heart to reach out to others who were not too privileged.

He encouraged the group to do more as he urged them to institute modesty into their activities adding that any initiative that would promote decency and entrenchment of the African values would often have his support.

Pharm. Asuku asked them to improve capacity in whatever venture they engaged themselves, assuring them of his continued support.

He also asked them to be good citizens of the state and help to spread the good gospel of the governor Bello led administration.

In her opening remarks Chief Executive Officer, Heema Empire, Ibrahim Rahimat ovayioza thanked the Chief of Staff for the support he has rendered to the NGO and their several initiatives.

She narrated that the NGO started in 2015, with seven children in Ajaokuta which have now grown tremendously as it organises events, including spelling bees, talent hunts, children’s Day competitions etc because the foundation cater primarily for the wellbeing and academic concerns of children.

She said the NGO had an upcoming program in October and they have decided to kick start the event with the unveiling of the official t-shirts as well as visiting schools to share writing materials in some selected schools.

In her own remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Concept and Actualisation, Mrs. Iretidola Akinrowo Ojekhoa praised the CEO and her team for her noble work while Praying for God to continue to give them strength and resources as needed.
