Kogi Distributes Relief Materials to Flood Victims

In a move to mitigate the effects of flooding currently ravaging parts of the state, the Kogi State Government has continued the distribution of relief materials to victims of flood disaster in the state.

Supervising the distribution of the relief materials in Lokoja and Kogi local government areas, the Commissioner for Environment, Chief Victor Adewale Omofaiye said the distribution was necessary to fulfil his promise of providing succour to residents of the state.

Chief Omofaiye said the ministry was working closely with the State Emergency Management Agency to bring more palliatives to cushion the effect of the flood on communities in the state. While praising the Governor for being proactive in responding to the call of the people, the Commissioner assured the victims that government will do it can to reduce their suffering.

He urged the people still residing in areas that have been flooded to move to government designated camps for victims to ensure that palliatives gets to them on time.

Materials distributed includes bedding, bags of rice, noodles, among other food items.
