Kogi: Excitement as civil servants receive December salary »

There is jubilation among civil servants in Lokoja, Kogi State, on Thursday morning as workers in the employment of the state government under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello began to receive payment of full salary for the month of December 2019.

Recall that the former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Engr Abubakar Ohere gave the assurance that December salary would be paid on or before the 19th of December.

Cross section of civil servants, who spoke to InsideStory exuded joy as they lauded the state government for fulfilling its promise to pay before Christmas, just as they confirmed the receipt of bank alerts for their salaries.

“we are happy because people will have money to celebrate the Christmas”.

Confirming the payment of December 2019 salary to the workforce during a telephone chat with InsideStory on Thursday morning, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onogwu Muhammed stated that the governor remains committed to prompt payment of salaries to the hardworking Kogi civil servants.

He said that salary issues have become a thing of the past in Kogi State, and assured that things can only get better.
