Kogi gets first vo-working space; innovation Lab
A social enterprise for solving challenges associated with youth restiveness and unemployment codenamed Mentor Box has been established in Kogi State.
Speaking at the official launch of Mentor Box in Lokoja the state capital, the co-founder, Eunice Emmanuel-Bagi described it as a venture that aimed to bring seemless solutions to many issues that relate to skill-set requirements through innovative approach to providing an affordable, conducive and convenient co-working space and innovation lab targeted at youth-led start-ups.
She said the co-working space doubles as a Youth Hub qnd is part of efforts to achieve the bigger vision of solving local problems centered around achieving the Sustainable Development Goals using a different approaches.
The Social Entrepreneur explained that the initiative was designed to bridge infrastructural and skill gaps affecting young people in the state by providing mentorship programs, regular workshops and trainings to create an eco-system for young people to equip them with the right skills, tools and information needed to thrive in the twenty first century.
The Co-Founder explained that Mentor Box would host several incubation programmes, hackathons and pitching competitions to provide a platform for start-ups especially tech startups to grow in the state.
Ms. Emmanuel-Bagi disclosed that Mentor Box was more than just a physical location as it was a vision borne out of the will to inspire the next generation to out-do the present in all spheres of development.
In her words; “I am passionate about Kogi State and its youth. I believe that the only way we can solve our problems is by taking ownership of those problems. We cannot wait for the government to solve all of our problems, we must do the bit that we can and then somehow hope that we inspire others to continue in this legacy.”
Situated in the heart of Lokoja Metropolis, Mentor Box is a conducive working environment designed to foster collaboration, innovation and creativity among Kogi youth.
