Kogi Gov. tasks new transition chairpersons on security, welfare of their LG

Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello has tasked the newly inaugurated chairpersons of the 21 Local government area of the state to take the issue of safety and security of their respective locality seriously and ensure that their people feel their positive impact, through adequate welfarism

He gave this charge on Tuesday while addressing the newly inaugurated transition chairpersons who had just being administered with the oath of office and secrecy by the kogi state government.

Governor Bello admonished them to ensure they surpassed the benchmark achievements of the previous occupants of their offices particularly in the areas of ensuring security and safety in their LG. He similarly urged them to work diligently as the workload ahead of them is herculean but with the right collaboration and cooperation with relevant stakeholders they will succeed.

Governor Bello said that his outgoing administration and that of the outgone chairmen have prepared the ground for their smooth take off and success while advising them to carry every stakeholder along in their new assignment.

He added that the newly sworn in chairpersons must serve the people to the best of their abilities and must help to ensure that the people at the grassroots feel governance impact effectively. The governor warned that their new appointment is not for them to show affluence but rather they must be able to work and relate with every manner of human being and several stakeholder adding that LG administration will not be business as usual

Earlier the Commissioner for Local Government Areas and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bar. Deedat Ozigi, inundated that the event was in essence to inaugurate those that will be responsible for discharging security responsibility in their respective locality.

He informed that the tenure of the former democratically elected Chairmen of the 21-LGA elapsed and unlike some leader who allows for vacuum to linger and create room for certain misgivings, the state government under governor Bello has appointed caretaker chairpersons.

The Commissioner added that because of the governor’s passion and interest to ensure peaceful coexistence, cohesion and the continued safety and security of the citizens. He added that steps by the governor recently to reposition the state properly have been lauded by every persons across the nooks and crannies of the state.

Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar who lauded governor Bello’s democratic approach to leadership hinted that the appointment of the transition chairperson were backed by law which stipulates their roles, functions, timeframe and other dictates, hence the legislative arm would continue to watch them closely to ensure they act within their stipulated and legal roles.

One of the inaugurated caretaker chairman in charge of Lokoja Local Government, Comrade Adamu Abdullahi said they were poised and ready to work in sustaining the great achievements of their respective successors, adding that his focus would be in areas of security, empowerment and facilitating socio economic growth and development to the state capital.

Those inaugurated included, Rasheed Bashiru Okatengwu (Adavi), Haruna Aliyu Ogido (Ajaokuta), Adamu Yahaya Mohammed (Ankpa),Theophilus Adama (Bassa), John Urah (Dekina), Emmanuel Uge (Ibaji), Amade Egwuda Ochuenu (Idah), Cosmas Attabor Ilemona (Igalamela-Odolu), Ibrahim Haruna (Ijumu), Barr. Zaccaeus Dare Michael (Kabba-Bunu), Musa Abdulmalik (kogi)

Others are Abdullahi Adamu (Lokoja), Ademola Bello (Mopa-Muro), Hassan Atawodi (Ofu), Rosemary Ohiezu (Ogori-Magongo), Monday Amoke Odu (Okehi), Enesi Ahmed Nuhu (Okene), Ameh Williams O (Olamaboro), Edibo Ameh Mark (Omala), Dare Joshua Venza (Yagba West) and Tosin Olokun (Yagba EAST)
