With few days left to the Kogi State governorship election slated for November 16, persons with disabilities (PWD) in the state have taken to the streets to campaign for the re-election of governor Yahaya Bello.

Chairman of Joint Association of People With Disability, Kogi State chapter, Comrade Ibrahim Daniel Arome on Tuesday in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, revealed that persons with disabilities across the state will cast their votes for Governor Yahaya Bello during Saturday’s governorship election.

Arome while speaking on behalf of the disabled during their campaign visit to old market, Lokoja, pledged that about ten thousand people with disabilities, who are registered voters have kept their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ready to vote for Bello in appreciation of the Disability Bill that the governor signed into law.

He maintained that people with disabilities will forever be grateful to Governor Bello because successive administrations before him, including former governors Ibrahim Idris and Idris Wada did not regard people with disabilities.

Arome also said that the administration of Yahaya Bello practices inclusion in all fronts and have given persons with disabilities a real sense of belonging by including them in the governance of the state through the appointment of one of them as Senior Special Assistant to the governor on disability matters.

“Due to the huge recognition that we enjoy from this government, our people were the first to endorse the reelection of Governor Yahaya Bello, as i speak with you now, this advocacy is taking place simultaneously across the three senatorial districts of the state. We are unanimous in our resolve to vote this Governor and his deputy because we are assured of a better future with Yahaya Bello.

“What we are doing now is not even campaign, we are just moving round to sensitize our people on how to thumbprint on that day to avoid invalid votes. Our people are united behind Yahaya Bello”. He said.
