Kogi Infrastructural Development: Chinese Firm To Partner State On Road Construction

Kogi State Economic Management Team led by its alternate chairman Alh. Yakubu Okala, the State Auditor General today attended a critical state infrastructural development meeting and technical presentations by a Chinese construction giant MESSRS POWERCHINA at the Ministry of Works and Housing Lokoja.

The host and Hon Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr Abubakar Ohere, coordinated the presentation and hailed the officials of Powerchina group from the People Republic of China for exploring ways of partnership on road construction in the state.

The presentation covered surveying, road design, construction techniques, equipments and others.

The delegation which was led by the Nigeria Vice Chairman of Powerchina group, Senior Engineer Gong Jun assured Kogi State government of the group’s readiness to deliver its best in terms of quality road project that will meet global standard.

Mr. Gong Jun also highlighted the company’s achievement which ranked them top in ENR global design firms list, POWERCHINA has been included in two prestigious rankings, Engineering News Record’s 2020 Top 150 Global Design Firms and the Top 225 International Design Firms both of which were released in late July this year.

After the presentation and joint assessment by the Ministry’s engineers, the Commissioner for Works and Housing commended the group for their visit and assured them of the ministry maximum support as date for field visit was jointly agreed upon.

Engr. Ohere who further described their visit as timely said Gov. Yahaya Bello led government has invested heavily on infrastructure, construction and rehabilitation of roads in the state while lamenting the continued high road maintenance cost on the state because of the unique location of the state as a gateway with heavy traffic movement.

Alh. Okala who made the closing remarks commended governor Yahaya Bello on his giant strides on road maintenance and assured the group of the Governor’s determination to create an enabling environment for investors who are ready to invest in the state.

Among the delegation of Powerchina is the legal adviser of the group, Barr. Rosyln Amanda, the group Auditor, Franklin Ben and the group account officer.
