Kogi Mineral Commission Chair canvasses support for Bello/Onoja candidature, empowers less fortunate in Okehi LGA

The Chairman of Kogi State Mineral Resources Development Commission, Hajiya Hassiat Suleiman has called on the people of Ihima in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State to vote overwhelmingly for APC candidates, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and his deputy, Chief Edward Onoja in this Saturday’s election.

She made the call on Tuesday during an empowerment programme she organised at her home state of Oboroke where the less privileged in the community in their hundreds were beneficiaries.

Hajiya Hassiat said the election was between allowing the APC to consolidate on the progress it has recorded in the past four years under Governor Bello and efforts to take the state to its sad past.

Her Empowerment programme which cuts across societal demographic include women, the youth and the aged, with another schemes targeting business groups who were presented with various monetary sums either to start a business or as social intervention to boost their ventures.

The Programme which had commenced even before her assumption of office as former Chairman of Mineral Resources and Environmental Management Committee, MIREMCO, is targeted at assisting the people of Okehi LGA and the central senatorial district in general.

She used the occasion to call on the youth and other supporters of the APC to take loyalty sacred, noting that whoever is truly loyal to his principal whatever the shortcoming, he would be rewarded in time.

Hajiya Hassiat used the occasion to recognise some of her long term aides who have served her with diligence, and given them various gifts including cash sums among others.

The Chairman said a united Kogi State was better than a divided one, adding that in addition to the infrastructural development and improved institutional frameworks that have been recorded under the present administration under Governor Bello, the state has also enjoyed unity and peace among the various ethnic and religious groups.

She therefore called on the people to ensure they vote massively for the APC to ensure another term for the Governor, saying aside being one of their sons, Governor Bello has also done his best to ensure progress and development of Ebiraland.

Hajiya Hassiat promised to continue to personally make case for women and the less privileged in the area and the senatorial district, assuring them that the Governor was a listening leader and would ensure improved life for all especially the most vulnerable members of the society.

Mrs Azizat Okatahi who spoke on behalf of some beneficiaries said the gesture would go a long way in improving her life and those of her dependants.

Other beneficiaries who expressed gratitude to their benefactor, said the gesture would go a long in making life meaningful for them, assuring her that they would take the message of re – election of Governor Bello to their various homes in order to ensure a landslide victory for the APC on Saturday.
