Kogi November guber: Group, Echocho Progressive Network endorses Gov Bello/Onoja ticket

Members of a Kogi political movement, the Echocho Progressive Network said they have unanimously endorsed the Governor Yahaya Bello and Hon Edward Onoja ticket under the platform of APC in the November governorship election.

The group’s Publicity Secretary, Prosper Elijah Salifu made the revelation in a press statement it made available to journalists in Lokoja on Monday in which the coordinator, Sufyan Adam Imam said it is backing Governor Bello for a second term because he has succeeded in entrenching peace and unity and foster accommodation in governance among the political class in Kogi state.

The group who were in Government House Lokoja yesterday, Sunday on a thank you and congratulatory visit to Hon Edward David Onoja, described the Governor as a “gentle, accommodating, focused, progressive minded individual and promised to network round Kogi State during the gubernatorial election.

Adam said they were in the state capital on behalf of their Principal, Sen Jibrin Isah and praised the governor for his manifest love for the people of Kogi State.

The coordinator lauded political stakeholders in the state within the New Direction Government for their unalloyed support for their principal during the last Kogi East Senatorial Poll and congratulate the Chief of staff who was their host on his nomination for deputy governor position as well as his recent award as the Commander of Igala Kingdom (CIK).

While appreciating the governor’s spirit of tolerance, the group said Governor Ballo did well by involving youths in governance of the state through strategic appointments and recognitions.

“Having considered all these and concluded with our principal, our people have unanimously raised their voices in support for your acceptance to have a second shot at the governance of Kogi State in the coming gubernatorial election.”

State publicity secretary Prosper Elijah Salifu further echoed similar position and expressed gratitude to the Chief of Staff for the warm reception accorded them, assuring him of their total support during and after the election.

He however encouraged the Chief of Staff to continue his goodwill and never be distracted by any ethnic or tribal agenda of some groups, describing the development as saddening.

Responding, Chief Edward Onoja thanked the group for their solidarity and endorsement and reiterated the administration’s commitment to the unity of the people of the state irrespective of class, religion and ethnicity.

He noted that the governor would continue to ensure the youth take their pride of place in governance in Kogi State.
