Kogi NUT to Elect new officers at 7th Quadrennial State delegates conference

The ancient City of Okene, Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State midweek received an influx of Teachers under its aegis Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT, for her 7th Quadrennial State delegates conference which will be climaxed with the elections of new state Officers that will midwife its affairs in the next four years.

The delegates conference which has its theme:
‘Grown To Greatness ‘ No substitute for Teachers, will bring to an end the four years results oriented and monumental achievements tenure of Comrade Thomas Ayodele as chairman of the great Union.

In attendance are the National president of the Union, Dr. Nasiri Idris, Kano and Jigawa states chairmen of the Union,Kogi state high powered delegation led by the state Commissioner of Education,Hon.Wemi Jones, Kogi state chairman of Subeb,Comrade Suleiman Ndalayi,past and present leaders of the Union as well as delegates from the 21-local government areas are participating in the conference.

In an address, the going state chairman of the Union, Comrade Thomas Aderemi Ayodele said despite concerted effort made by his tenure , teachers were faced with catalogue of challenges ranging from inadequate salary paid, several teachers are still uncleared list, shortage of instructional materials, and the non implementation of teachers salary structure.

Comrade Thomas Aderemi Ayodele equally identified the problem of promotion and annual incremental rate, shortage of teachers in primary schools and none training and retraining of teachers in the state.

The outing state chairman of NUT informed his colleagues of the achievements which included working hard to protect the welfare of teachers and impressing on government to pay their salary regularly .

His words:I wish to inform you that my administration has recovered the teachers guest house leassed to Cornanage and Unyogba micro- finance bank and is under renovation -and renovation through direct labor is at 90percent completion and be open for service delivery soon.

Good will messages came from the state Head of service,Mrs Hannah Ondiyo,the state chairman of the Universal basic education board, Comrade Suleiman Ndalayi as well as past leaders of the Union like Comrade Emmanuel Omatttah, Comrade Sani Mohammed all graced the great event.

At the end of 7-quadrennial State delegates conference a new leaders would be elected for the next four years.
