Kogi NYCN 2021: Eastern stakeholders mull consensus as congress draws close

Stakeholders of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Kogi State chapter has announced that they are considering a consensus candidate for the chairmanship position of the council in the forthcoming congress in the state.

This was made known shortly after a meeting of the Kogi East stakeholders of NYCN which was held in Ejule on the 7th of July; which focused on – state of the Council; upcoming State Congress; and, the posts zoned to Kogi East.

In a communique signed by the Zonal Chairman, Comrade Pete Amodu, the stakeholders appreciated Governor Yahaya Bello and his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja for the massive involvement of youths in governance process and for uplifting the standards of Kogi NYCN and making her the cynosure of all.

They specially commended the Deputy Governor for his early intervention in guiding the zone in the direction of unity and progress, adding that peace is paramount to them as stakeholders and representatives of the youths.

The statement reads:

i. That, we reaffirm our utmost appreciation and support for His Excellency Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello – THE DOYEN OF NIGERIAN YOUTH – and his Deputy, Chief Edward David Onoja for making Youth Council what it is today and carving a niche for Kogi youths in governance. And therefore once again pass a vote of confidence on their dynamic leadership.

ii. That, we agreed collectively that the unity and peace among Kogi East youth are paramount and above every self and individual interest and that we remained committed to it.

iii. That, we unanimously appreciate His Excellency Chief Edward David Onoja, the leader of Kogi East, for his early intervention that has given direction to the zone on the coming Congress and that we are not at variance with his advice.

iv. That, the stakeholders collectively apologize to the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward David Onoja on behalf of any sphere of Kogi East where any vituperative outburst might have came from and seek for his forgiveness.

v. That, the stakeholders believe that consensus is a tool for unification and not alien to the NYCN, Kogi State as it was used by the other Senatorial Districts when they where resolving the issue of Chairmanship during state Congress.

vi. That, consultations by the aspirants and interface with a set Committee continues till Friday 9th July, 2021 before the meeting scheduled to hold on Saturday 10th July, 2021.
