The convener of Avoyi Team for Ododo, Hon Avoyi Nwogu, has admonished members of the student political network body of the Federal University Lokoja, operating under the Avoyi Team 4 Ododo to support the candidature of Alhaji Usman Ododo in the November election.

Hon. Nwogu gave the admonition during a visit on Friday to the institution when she led some executive members of the Avoyi Team 4 Ododo in engaging with the university’s political union governing body.

While highlighting the importance of their endorsement, she underscored Ododo’s dedication to the well-being of the people, adding that he is poised to deliver dividends of democracy to the people, when he secures the mandate.

She urged the students to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) which she described as the voting power that could afford them the opportunity to exercise their franchise.

While enumerating Ododo’s track record of compassionate style of leadership, she cited instances where he extended financial assistance for medical treatments of people he never knew, and gave scholarships.

Speaking further, Hon. Nwogu recounted the efforts and roles played by Ododo in transforming lives, offering job opportunities and skill development for hundreds of graduates across the state.

The Convener of Avoyi Team for Ododo, a seasoned figure in electronic media and also a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Bello, hailed Ododo as a prominent contender among the candidates vying for the November gubernatorial seat.

Encouraging the students to shape their own destinies, adopt a resolute stance in their pursuits, drawing parallels with Governor Yahaya Bello’s ascent to power against all odds.

She shared her optimism about the future for the students; “I see future leaders, senators, governors, and more. Seek mentors to guide you, she enjoined.”

“My support for Governor Bello in 2015 was not solely rooted in tribal loyalty, but rather more about his youthfulness, intelligence, focus and determination to dare.”

Hon. Nwogu praised Governor Bello for being dogged and forthright in his determination to rewrite the story of Kogi State for the better, commending his pragmatic approach which led to the proscription of the ASUU Strike in the state tertiary institutions, enabling students to graduate as scheduled.

She cautioned the students to steer clear of violence and thuggery while stressing the importance of adhering to the rules of the game.

Addressing security concerns, in off-campus areas such as Crusher and NNPC Felele as mentioned by the students, Hon.Nwogu assured them of swift government intervention through the state security adviser’s office to tame the security issues.

Other executive members of the Avoyi Team for Ododo, offering life guidance, included Halimat Isah, SSA to the Governor in the office of the Deputy Governor’s Wife, Victor Audu Ohinoyi, the Team’s PRO, Coordinators, Sheidu Muritala Andas, Abuja Team and Abubakar Lukman, Felele Team, advising the students to be hard work, focused and avoid the enticement for quick financial gains and behaviours that could jeopardise their future prospects.

The Chairman of the union, Muhammed Amin made a plea for polling units in close proximity to the campus and accessible transportation for Kogi State students who desire to travel to their various localities to exercise their franchise during the election.

Unit heads present used the platform to appeal for government assistance for students who face challenges with tuition payments.
