Kogi Poly staff school celebrates first graduation ceremony, prize -giving day
…Rector pledges total support
It was a moment of celebration as Kogi State Polytechnic Staff School, Lokoja celebrated its first graduation ceremony and Prize-Giving Day in grand style, featuring different display of talents and presentations.
The event which took place on Wednesday, 27th July, 2022 at the Polytechnic’s Hall “A” witnessed a sparkling atmosphere as the graduants appeared in their various regalia to cheer the occasion.
The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic and Pioneer Proprietor of the school, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman appreciated all the principal officers and staff present at the ceremony, commending the effort and dedication demonstrated by the Board Chairman of the Staff School, Dr. Anthony Puke.
Dr. Usman specially celebrated the first pupil that enrolled in the School, ‘Ummukhair Abdulkarim’, stating that posterity would not forget her, as her name would forever be engraved on the tablet of history.
The School board Chairman, Dr. Anthony Puke congratulated the staff and pupils of the Staff School as well as the management of Kogi State Polytechnic for the initiative which had recorded tremendous success within a short period of time.
He specially commended the Rector for his financial and moral support to ensure that the school undergo total transformation, whilst describing Dr. Usman as a man of foresight, mission and accomplishment.
Dr. Puke further solicited more support and contribution from the management of the Polytechnic in the area of development to ensure that the School stands out among its contemporaries.
The Head Teacher of the Kogi State Polytechnic Staff School, Mrs. Aisha Obansa Ohunene paid a glowing tribute to the Rector and Proprietor, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman for the vision to establish the school and for his continued support at all times.
She further expressed gratitude to the Rector for his fatherly love and support towards the School, adding that, the provision of School Bus had eased movement of pupils who lived far away from the school.
Mrs. Obansa also thanked the Board Chairman of Staff School, Dr. Puke. She disclosed that the Staff School which started on 1st of February, 2021 with just 4 pupils, a Teacher and a nanny had witnessed a tremendous growth within one Academic year, stating that the number of pupils had increased to 70 from Creche to Grade 5.
She further stated that the Staff School Grade 5 pupils sat their first common entrance examination, and had confidence that they would come out in flying colours. She added that the JSS section of the Staff School would commence by September this year.
Highlights of the event were dance, stage play and presentation of gifts to pupils with outstanding performance by the Rector.
All the Principal Officers of the Polytechnic, staff and pupils of the Staff School, parents and well-wishers were present at the occasion.
