Students in Kogi State Polytechnic from all backgrounds have been enjoined to see the unity of the state as a priority, even as they have equally been told to recognise their ethnic peculiarity as a strength for the growth of the state.

The Senior Special Assistant to Kogi State Governor on Student Matters, Comrade Omonu Joshua made the assertion today, Thursday, at an impromptu meeting he held with the student cultural leaders of Idah in Lokoja.

Comrade Joshua whose attention was called to the meeting in which he ended up spending quality time at, told them that the administration of Governor Bello understood the peculiarities of various ethnic groups, even though his intention is to see a Kogi State where people interacted with one another without bias of ethnicity.

To him, the unity being preached by the Governor was necessary for the growth of the state, noting that the intention was to have a state where the Igala, the Okun, the Ebira, the Nupe, the Hausa, the Kakanda and other ethnic groups speak in one voice.

He stressed; “That ‘Ebigo Agenda’ that is being peddled by this administration is meant to bring about the unity of the entire state under one umbrella to serve as avenue for the socio – cultural, infrastructural and economic emancipation of our people.

“Governor Yahaya Bello is therefore building projects and institutions that would ensure the growth of the state beyond the level that it currently is. We have no choice but to support him in this effort,” he concluded.
