The Speaker stated that the event became imperative in view of some of the issues surrounding the matter, stating that as critical stakeholders in the party and the state, their positions on the forthcoming election should be made vocal.
He opined that the APC at the National, State and Local levels would not deny a Governor who has recorded tremendously successes for the APC in all elections since assumption of office and demonstrated same in the last general election where he won two out of the 3 Senatorial Seats; seven of the nine House of Representatives positions; and swept all 25 State Assembly seats, a feat that has not been recorded since the creation of the state.
He stated that there were certain rumours peddled in some segments of the press meant to create animosity between the government and the people of the state, hence the need for them to clear the air.
Kolawole affirmed that they were well positioned as the closest to the people at the grassroots to inform the media that ninety percent of the accusations of harshness and non-performance against the administration of Governor Bello were unfounded.
The Speaker on behalf of the forum thanked the State Governor for his giant efforts and purposeful leadership which culminated the victorious outing of the APC in the just concluded elections
He noted that under his leadership, the membership of the party had grown from less than 50,000 in 2015 to well over 500,000 registered members, pointing out that the APC in the State had gone from a fractured, divided house, to a formidable championship side.
The legislator further noted that the administration has achieved laudable feat in the areas of Security, education, infrastructure development, civil service reforms, Human Capital Development and there was the need for its continuity and consolidation.
The speaker stated that the forum had also resolved to commence work towards his reelection at their various constituencies by engaging grassroots stakeholders like party leaders, traditional rulers, youth and women groups as well as opinion molders to spread the gospel.
He thereby informed persons trying to cause disaffection in the party to desist from such act while he assured the National leadership of the party that the APC in State was not in any form of crisis whatsoever.
The Speaker revealed that those who took such stories to the National Secretariat and their sponsors claiming to be stakeholders of the party were not known members of the APC in Kogi State.
He referred to them as spoilers who were doing the bidding of the opposition and the National leadership must totally ignore them.
The Speaker canvassed that the party procedures, due process and the rule of law must be the only considerations on how the flag-bearer for the November 2019 Governorship Election emerges, calling on all and sundry to rally round the current administration to succeed for the benefit of all.
