Kogi Specialist Hospital holds 15th Regular Board Meeting, first under current CMD, Dr Ahmed Attah

Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, has held its 15th Regular Board Meeting, the first under the leadership of the incumbent Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr Ahmed Attah.

The Board deliberations which took place at the Conference Room of the Hospital, saw the attendance of members of the Hospitals Board to review some of the recent happenings around the institution and the need chart a way forward for it.

In his opening address, the CMD, Dr Ahmed Attah said the focus of the hospital under his leadership was to put the patients first in everything they do because they were there only to cater to their healthcare needs.

In his words; “Our strategy of putting God first while focusing as a team on our patients and working as a management team on the welfare of our staff has seen a significant improvement in the motivation of our staff and directly impacted positively on patronage from our patients and clients.

“The improved support and attention given to our hospital by His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has seen salaries and arrears of salaries being paid to staff regularly on a monthly basis. This has been a key factor in the quick turnaround of the image, value and patronage given to our hospital.”

He used the occasion to congratulate the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja for their recent success at the polls, and thanked the board members for their efforts to ensure the victory was achieved.

“I am grateful to the Chairman and members of the Board for your support and prayers even while you have been away which has enabled us take off and attain the modest achievements recorded amidst huge challenges over this period.

“I join millions of Kogites in congratulating you and His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello on the victory recorded at the November 16th polls and pray for more peace and prosperity in Kogi State in the second tenure of this government.

“The effort of management and staff cannot go unnoticed as we have worked as a team to improve our image, value and service provision to our patients and clients.”

He used the occasion to go down memory lane on the situation he met on ground on assumption of office in July this year, describing the morale of the staff at the time as a largely demotivated one, a situation he has been able to change few months in the saddle.

The CMD further recalled that the hospital also had deficiency in number of doctors which led to paucity in patient satisfaction and patronage, dilapidated infrastructure and dearth in funding, noting that the Internally Generated Revenue was also at a low, situations that have taken good turns under his leadership.

Having enunerated some of the landmark achievements recorded within the short period of his assumption of office, including the current financial situation, Dr Attah highlighted opportunities his administration has envisioned for the hospital in the future through Public Private Partnership (PPP).

He therefore thanked Chairman and members of the Board for their cooperation so far and prayed God to grant them the wherewithal to continue to pilot the affairs of the hospital even as he urged them to sustain the tempo.
