It has gotten to the point where even in the quest for “Kogi West For Governor “, courage must be summoned to spill out some bitter truth to those who are in dire need of the truth and who holds value for what truth implies.
It is no longer news that Kogi West Senatorial District have been clamouring to democratically occupy the position of the executive governor of the state since its creation till date. However, this agitation is yet to materialise and the agitation keeps getting tougher by the day.
I have watched my people from Kogi West in recent time, make some political permutation that may end up becoming a sabotaged effort if it is not carefully managed. A case where no fewer than three political parties are fielding their gubernatorial candidates from two out of the three federal constituencies in the senatorial district thereby leaving the senatorial district on the verge of producing splitting votes from two of the three federal constituencies while the other constituency is very much ready to team up with the ruling party to sustain its reign in power while building a firm network of trust upon the switch of mantle when the timing is right.
Some self acclaimed political big names from the districts who have refused to see anything good from the Governor Yahaya Bello’s led administration of Kogi State have sponsored and are still sponsoring innocent people to believe that Governor Yahaya Bello has failed to keep to his words of handing over power to Kogi West while they fail to remember that same Governor Yahaya Bello has remain committed, faithful and loyal to his word which is his bond to the people of Kogi State entirely.
As part of the testimonies of the commitment of governor Yahaya Bello to his words of assurance, he broke the 24 years jinx of the clamour for the people of Yagba Federal Constituency who in the last twenty four years clamoured to occupy the seat of the senate in Kogi West. Senator Tunde Ogbeha of Lokoja/Kotokarife Federal Constituency represented the senatorial district at the Nigeria Senate for two term, Senator Dino Melaye of Kabba Bunu Ijumu federal constituency, was voted to represent the district twice until controversies knocked him out the second term, senator Smart Adeyemi from same Kabba Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency served and is still serving for the third term in the senate and even planned to return for the forth term until God used governor Yahaya Bello and the All Progressive Congress, to grant the prayers of the Yagba people who finally produced a senator elect in the person of Hon. Steven Sunday Karimi who is to resume the 10th Senate by June, 2023.
Today, the people of Yagba federal constituency, after the last 24 years, are now set to experience what it means to be a part of the Nigeria Senate, courtesy of the promise of governor Yahaya Bello that he stood firm to defend despite senator Smart Adeyemi’s intentions of running again for the fourth term. Senator Karimi is a living testimony of the fact that Bello Keeps to his promise and can be trusted. The people of Yagba have seen Bello match his words with actions. Today, the long clamoured Yagba for senate has been materialise after 24 years. Yahaya Bello and the APC made it possible.
From the above, one can only wholeheartedly accept to the fact that Kogi West senatorial district is closer to becoming governor of Kogi state with Governor Yahaya Bello and the All Progressive Congress. Yes! The party’s primary has been conducted and a party flag bearer already elected, he will be on the ballot to represent the party in the November election and by God’s grace, APC will win. In this election, Kogi Westerners must come to the reality that their alignment with the ruling All Progressive Congress, will go a long way in showing how prepared and ready we in coming closer to sitting on the seat of the Governor of the state beyond the now.
The Eastern Senatorial District who have tasted the good in the seat of the Executive Governor of the state for 16 years, are seriously doing everything humanly possible to come back to that seat after the successful eight years of Governor Yahaya Bello who is from Kogi Central District, a closer door Neigbour to Kogi Western District. If this can be happening, Kogi Westerners should come to realise that with patience, understanding and sufficient electoral strength, another eight years supporting APC and Kogi Central won’t be as far as envisaged and with the central, they are closer to succeeding Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman.
At this stage, political, religious and even traditional rulers from Kogi West must come together to draw a line of understanding and look into the basic reality without any form of sentiments or emotions and make proper alignment so that at the end of the day, there won’t be a form of any regrets for not getting it right even when it is obviously closer to us than ever before.
It is on this note that I charge and enjoin that a massive and uncompromising support be giving to the ruling All Progressive Congress and the Governor Yahaya Bello’s new direction administration as the journey to bringing on board, Alhaji Ododo Admed Usman, who is the Gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress, commences.
Let it be clearly established again that Governor Yahaya Bello remains a man of his words and this he has proven in action. Kogi West can get it right again. Let the political arithmetic arrive at a balance of 16-16-16 and not 16-8-0.
Kogi Western Senatorial District have come too far and can not afford to get it wrong at this very moment that we are closer to the shortest route to the destination of being in charge of Lugard’s House and Governor Yahaya Bello and the APC is this shortest route ever sorted for. A vote for Ododo is a step closer to our destination.
As for me and all of those who shares same political believe in the Governor Yahaya Bello and the decision of the majority of the card carrying members of the All Progressive Congress who voted in massive favour of the party’s flag bearer in the recently contested party’s direct primary election, we will give our unaltered, unadulterated and unalloyed support to make this dream of the party come through. While believing that when it is due for Kogi West, we will further front the agenda in due course.
