Kogi Youth Commissioner Donates ₦500,000 for Mosque Upgrade, Food Items for Eid-el-Kabir in Ogene Igah

The Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Honourable Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, has demonstrated a strong commitment to religious harmony and community development with a generous donation to the Muslim community in his hometown of Ogene Igah, Olamaboro Local Government Area.

As part of activities to mark the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the commissioner on Saturday visited the mosque to celebrate with Muslims and donated the sum of ₦500,000 to the central mosque in Ogene Igah. According to him, the funds are meant for the upgrade of the mosque and the purchase of essential equipment to enhance worship and community gatherings.

In addition to the financial donation, Honourable Anyebe also distributed bags of rice and other assorted food items to Muslim faithful in the area to support them during the festive period.

Speaking during a brief handover ceremony at the mosque, the commissioner, a Christian, emphasized that his gesture is inspired by the leadership philosophy of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, which promotes unity, religious tolerance, and community integration.

“This donation is not just about religion; it is about our shared humanity and the spirit of togetherness. The ₦500,000 is to support the upgrade of this mosque and the purchase of some needed equipment. I also brought food items to help make the Eid celebration more joyful for our Muslim brothers and sisters. This is in line with the inclusive vision of His Excellency, Governor Ododo, who continues to lead with fairness and unity,” he stated

Members of the mosque committee who received the donation on behalf of the Muslim community, expressed deep appreciation for the commissioner’s magnanimity.

“This is a remarkable and thoughtful intervention. The commissioner has proven that leadership goes beyond titles, it is about service to all, regardless of faith. We are grateful for the financial support towards the mosque and the food items which will go a long way in making this Eid special for many families,” said the Imam.

The event attracted a large number of residents, both Muslims and Christians, who commended Honourable Anyebe for leading by example and for bridging religious divides through acts of kindness and inclusion.
