Lokoja caretaker Chair Meets with Igbo Community Leaders, Assure of adequate security

The Transition Committee Chairman for Lokoja Local Government Area, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu has met with an expanded body of the leadership of Igbo Community in the area where he assured them of adequate security of lives and property.

The meeting is sequel to the decision of members of the community to close their shops to business to drive home their message of displeasure on the rampant kidnap for ransom targeting the wives of Igbo businessmen in parts of the area.

The kidnapping, which have been carried out in Ajaokuta Local Government Area the chairman said is a blight on the huge government investment in the security sector.

He noted that Lokoja being the state capital is a host to several businesses of Igbo interest and appealed to the business men to end their demonstration and resume their trades.

Comrade Abdullahi, who expressed sadness about the situation admitted that he may not have full appreciation of their pains, even as he sympathized with them.

The Chairman said Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo also shares in their pains and has put necessary measures in place to end the ugly trend of kidnapping for ransom in all parts of the state.

On his own part, the chairman said he is working closely with security agencies to bring the matter under control.

In their separate remarks, the leaders of Igbo Community in Lokoja expressed appreciation to the Chairman for his show of love and support to their plight and joined him in calling for an end to the closing down of business premises and bring back normalcy.

They also applauded Governor Ododo for his prompt response, noting that unlike other governments who would have chosen to turn a blind eye or treat the matter with levity, Kogi State government has shown that it is ready to deal the decisively with the situation.
