Maigari of Lokoja, Maiyaki of Kupa receives staff of office

…as gov. Bello tasks them to support incoming govt.

The Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello on Friday presented the staff of office to the newly installed Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabiri IV, and Maiyaki of Kupa, Alhaji Dauda Kabir isah at the government house, Lokoja.

The governor at the event charged the traditional rulers to sustain peace, unity and cohesion while urging them to galvanize all the people together and expect prosperity, growth safety and security.

Governor Bello narrated that within the last 8 years, God gave him a very unique opportunity to oversee the installation of more than 6 paramount rulers without any rancour and disagreement and such an event happened in all the three senatorial districts of the state.

He added that throughout these periods several insinuations circulated over some of the vacant positions which the government was able to navigate through and resolve amicably.

He thanked the people of Lokoja who have given his government the support through out his years of leadership adding that his successor would build on the foundations his government has laid.

He urged the newly installed royal fathers to give their overwhelming support to the administration of the governor-elect while assuring that, he would always render helping hands towards the development of Kogi state. He also mentioned that the government of Ahmed Usman Ododo is a continuation of his Government.

The newly installed Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabiri IV who gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the traditional rulers thanked God almighty, the governor of the state and all those who have made the day a reality.

He mentioned that the staff of office is a symbol of huge responsibility, assuring that they would work hard to justify the confidence reposed in them.

On his part, he promised to pay attention to promoting, security, safety, tourism and contributing maximally to the urbanisation plan of the state capital Lokoja.

He pointed out that the traditional institution would continue to collaborate with the government and private stakeholders to fast track landmark development and progress to their respective region.

Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bar. Deedat Ozigi, said that following the vacuum created by the demise of the former occupants, the newly installed Maigari of Lokoja and Maiyaki of Kupa have been privileged for a lifetime to reign over their people.

While he commended the people for the peaceful manner which have followed the announcement of the traditional rulers, he added that the government under the leadership of governor Bello deployed the templates of transparency, equity and justice

While he thanked the governor for ensuring that under his leadership heralded a total departure of imposition into traditional stools which he affirmed has gone a long way to guarantee peace and tranquility, he added that his government has also prioritised the welfare of the traditional rulers in the state through the prompt payment of their salaries and other benefits.
