New ministries come on stream in Gov Bello’s second term

True to his announcement during his inauguration address, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has converted former Bureau of Information and Grassroots Sensitization into a full fledged ministry.

Governor Yahaya Bello announced this this evening in Government House Lokoja while administering oath of office and allegiance on the newly appointed commissioners this evening where he also revealed the creation of the ministry of Solid Minerals making ministries in the state government increase from 15 to 17.

The Governor said his decision to create the new ministries was in line with the vision of his government to harness the state’s abundant opportunities, especially in solid mineral resources where the state holds a numerical advantage.

He noted that Kogi is adjudged the state with the highest number of mineral resources in the country, and apart from limestone deposits, Iron – Ore and Coal, others are grossly under – utilized.

The ministry, he stated, is expected to help the state to take full advantage of its solid minerals by also ensuring the state is not short changed by other investors operating in the state.

Also, the Governor has appointed his immediate past Director General, Protocol, Dr. Gabriel Ottah as Special Adviser on Education.

Ottah, who was appointed late last year was yesterday relieved of the position paving the way for Mr Sunday Aiyenibe who until his elevation was Director, Protocol Department in Government House.

Other Special Advisers named by the Governor are; Honourable Kabir ohiani, SDGs, former deputy speaker of the State Assembly, Honourable Aduku Ojodale( Legal Matters), while Navy Commander Jerry Omodara(rtd) retains office as State Security Adviser.
