Nigerians’ Visa Ban: The Unfolding Events In USA, Case Of Pot Calling Kettle Black- By Prince Salisu Sani Ogu

Except for anyone who don’t recall events, it was about this time last year that the United States of America placed a Visa Ban on some selected Nigerian leaders over what they termed as activities related to electoral violence during and after the 2019 general election, especially the Kogi State November 16th Gubernatorial Election that reelected Governor Yahaya Bello for 2nd term.

One year later, the truth is out!

Ordinarily, the aftermath events of the 2019 general election in Nigeria and November 16th Gubernatorial Election in Kogi State is not near comparison with the show of shame displayed in the US yesterday but since it vindicates the black listed Nigerians while still indicting the self claimed saints, I beg to ask a few questions.

Why is there no curfew in Washington DC after protesters stormed Capitol? What kept Lawmakers in hiding on the day US is supposed to elect Legislative Leaders? Why is CNN terming protesters as terrorists or no respect for the right of protesters? Isn’t the use of riot police and troopers a violation of the protesters’ human rights?

I leave all these questions for our consciences to answer for after all, it was the Pot that called Kettle black.

Save for the false reputation of US among member Nations, the UN Security Council by now ought to order the ICC to begin an immediate investigation of the situation in the United States while President Trump who has rejected the results of a free, fair and credible elections be arrested to avert further breakdown of law and order.

Away from the US palaver, it is time for African Nations to rise to the occasion of sanctioning perceived electoral offenders as characteristic of US, the self acclaimed crusaders of democracy.

Cancelling the Visas of all Senior Members of the Trump regime and their families, freezing all their assets in Nigeria and indeed Africa is nothing too big to dare if the African Union makes it a mission to work with its partners to ensure democracy is protected in America and other countries the same way United States of America often claims to be doing when trying to invade African sovereignties.

Now that the truth has Unfolded in USA, I hope all those that peddled the fiasco Visa Ban on Nigerians and Kogi State Governor in particular will be responsible enough to apologize or at least, give USA the dose it deserves.

Truly, time heals everything and the Visa Ban on some select Nigerians was only a matter of time to be invalidated. As a matter of fact, Governor Yahaya Bello is unarguably a secret factor of all times and nobody has ever ended noble after daring him in his innocence. That our eyes are on a bigger and greater goal come 2023, we keep trusting God in all our affairs!
