NKFI appreciates Alhaji Yahaya Bello for accreditation, interventions during tenure

History is always kind to those whose stories are written with the golden pen of kindness, charity and good leadership. In the annals of Kogi State’s history, there are few individuals who have made a lasting impact on development of Education development in the pedigree of the immediate past governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

When he took over the helms of affairs of the state, his commitment was simply to take Kogi state from the back end of where it was to a new height of greatness. Upon completion of his tenure, beyond his footprint in the education sector which was placed as top priority on the New Direction Blueprint, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, through his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to education similarly transformed the landscape of Vocational and Technical Education in the region. The Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute, graciously benefitted from Alhaji Yahaya Bello’s forthrightness and benevolence.

Such good gestures can never be forgotten and The institute continually expresses heartfelt gratitude particularly when we remembered how our accreditation journey became a success story.

After several years of delay, the Nigeria Korea-Friendship Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology, under the leadership of Rector Charles Williams Oluwatoyin pledged to take a swing at getting accredited and position the institute for greater opportunities. While all efforts geared towards achieving this long standing mandate, the challenge was the timing.

The scheduled accreditation was during the period of transition and the New Direction Government had already directed that all government related accounts should be frozen as part of transition protocols. The journey of accreditation looked like yet another dimmed hope, but when immediate past Governor Bello was duly informed about the situation on ground he directed the immediate release of funds, breaking protocols for the greater good of the education sector.

This is a sincere testament to the immense contributions and foresight of the former Governor to Technical and Vocational Education. The successful accreditation of the Nigeria Korea Friendship Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology stands as a testament to the former Governor’s progressive vision for education in Kogi State. This Institution has become a beacon of hope, offering high-quality vocational and advanced technical education to our youth. The Yahaya Bello’s unwavering belief in the power of education enabled countless individuals to acquire skills that will propel them towards a brighter future. The institute has not only empowered youths but has also opened doors to global opportunities and strengthened ties between Nigeria and Korea

One could only imagine that during a period when the state’s accounts were frozen, the former Governor’s timely release of funds showcased his dedication to the welfare of the people. Economic challenges can cripple the growth of any institution, but the Governor’s commitment to the Nigeria Korea Friendship Institute remained steadfast. His government’s interventions ensured that the institute continued to function optimally, providing a conducive learning environment for students and enabling faculty members to deliver quality education. This act of support during testing times exemplifies the former Governor’s compassion and dedication to the progress of Kogi State.

The accredited Nigeria Korea Friendship Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology has not only had a transformative effect on education but has also made a significant impact on the local economy. The accreditation of the Nigeria Korea Friendship Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology, along with the former Governor’s interventions during challenging period of the institute, has left an indelible mark on the landscape of education in Kogi State. The former Governor Yahaya Bello has also produced a worthy successor in the person of Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo. Such continuity would ensure that the Vocational and Technical Education would earnestly receive plausible attention from the government of Kogi state. Recently, during a visit of the country director, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Mr Sungil Son and the Rector, Williams Charles Oluwatoyin to present the certificate of accreditation to the Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Usman Ododo, he promised that his government would continue from where his predecessor left from, such was the solid foundation and legacy, Alhaji Yahaya Bello left behind.
