NMMA 2021: Kogi govt. assures of adequate security

Kogi State government has assured participants for the 2021 Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA) of adequate security and safety noting that aside existing peace in the state, security operatives were working round the table to achieve this task.

This was made known in a press briefing on Thursday by the State Security Adviser and Chairman Security Sub-Committee NMMA 2021 CDR Jerry Omodara.

He captured the opportunity of the hosting rights under 2 major areas including that, NMMA must have put into consideration the relative peace and stability the State was currently enjoying.

The State security Adviser added that the event was an opportunity for the State under the leadership of Alh. Yahaya Bello to further exhibit its robust security architecture which could provide for more investments in the State.

The Security Committee Chairman confirmed that the State was set in all areas particularly in term of security arrangements put in place, adding that the Sub-Committee has been meeting to review the security needed for the great Event.

He said “the State is safe, peaceful and secure to successfully host the program. In the past, we have tried to build a peaceful State knowing fully-well that, peace is the bed rock for meaningful development and for peaceful co-existence”.

Omodara added that part of efforts put in place was ensuring all roads leading to the State were safe and secured as the committee planned to pilot, safely convey and return all delegates and guest to the Event from Abuja Airport.

The Committee chairman noted that the safety during the Media Tour across the 3 Senatorial Districts has also been put into consideration as Surveillance would be increased within the State Capital and particularly the venues and Hotel accommodations.

While adding that the needed surveillance would be on all other routes leading to the State Capital, Omodara reiterated that the Governor has directed the 21 LG Chairmen to work assiduously with federal security agencies in their LGA as well vigilantes and hunters to ensure that all roads were placed under 24 Hours surveillance.

He stressed that operatives were designing a compact system that would monitor the roads, streets, environments to ensure continuous peace in the State alluding that the state had uncommon system in security architecture that was peculiar to its geographical location, the people and topography

He alluded that security was the responsibility of a true Government and the current Administration in Kogi State would not fail to put safety of lives and properties first.
