Kogi State Deputy governor, Chief Edward Onoja has justified the recent title of ‘Sarkin Yaki’ meaning the ‘Shield’ of APC bestowed on Governor Yahaya Bello by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan when he disclosed that the political unity being promoted by Yahaya Bello accounts for the unprecedented goodwill and victory recorded by the All Progressives Congress (APC), which wiped out traces of opposition parties in the state.

He said it is one thing to govern well and another to ensure that your party continues to secure victory adding that governor Yahaya Bello has consistently ensured that the APC continues to grow not only in membership but also in numbers of elected officials.

Onoja made this remark Saturday 2nd April, during governor Bello’s official declaration of interest for 2023 presidency in Abuja.

The Deputy Governor said that in the last elections, Kogi State delivered 95% victory for all elective positions, a record that he said is unprecedented in the history of the state.

“All the three senators, six of the nine House of Representatives members, twenty-five House of Assembly members, twenty-one local government chairmen, two hundred and thirty-nine ward councilors are all APC and this was achieved under four years of purposeful leadership.”

Onoja expressed confidence that Yahaya Bello can transfer such winning streak to other parts of the country when he becomes the president.
