Non indigenes in Kogi donates N1m to Bello/Onoja, APC Campaign

Non indigenes in Kogi State comprising over 13 communities have jointly endorsed the All Progressive Congress and it’s candidate for the November 16 gubernatorial election while it also donated the sum of 1 million naira towards the campaign.

They gave their endorsement on Tuesday at an event organised by the group in government house, Lokoja.

The group comprised of the Igbo, Hausa, Idoma, Edo, Benue, Niger Delta, Isoko and other several communities which are resident and dominant in the State.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Non Indigenes Honourable Kelvin Uzochukwu thanked the governor for unifying the State and running an all inclusive government.

He stated that the non indigenes in the State haven seen the progressive trajectory of the New Direction Administration adopted a common voice to stand with Governor Alhaji Yahaya Belllo and his running mate Honourable Edward Onoja.

The SSA noted that over sixty percent of non indigene domiciled in the State had their Permanent Voter’s Card and would use their electoral power to vote the APC and it’s candidate at the November poll.

Speaking on behalf of the Hausa Community, Dr. Khalid Ibrahim affirmed APC exist in their people’s vein and it was a prohibition for any of them to vote any other party in an election

He noted that the Hausa people in the State have seen the governor’s developmental strides in the area of agriculture as they have benefitted severally from free fertilizer distribution which has helped improve their yield.

Dr. Ibrahim stated that his people would canvass and vote for the reelection of Governor Yahaya Bello to ensure that his administration continued the numerous programmes in the state.

The Isoko market woman leader, Deaconess Ann Onoko on her own part noted that the Isoko people are indigenous residence of the State who engaged in fishing and trading as their major economic mainstay.

She emphasised that the Bello led administration has ensured the adequate security of lives and properties in the state and said that Kogi was now a save place for all and sundry.

While receiving the certificate of endorsement and the cash donation from the group, Governor Bello who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Edward Onoja, thanked them for their kind gesture and support to the New Direction vision for the people of the state which affects both indigene and non indigene

He noted such occurrence has never happened in the history of the State noting that something historic and impacting was being birthed in the confluence city.

The Governor affirmed that Nigeria’s greatness would be greatly achieved when all our potentials could be fully harnessed through unity of heart, mind and purpose.

He said Kogi State was in total disunity before the coming of this government, the disunity which he said was fueled by the antecedents of past leaders. He however opined that the New Direction Administration eased these tensions by putting modalities in place and the exemplary lifestyle of the governor which has united the people of the state irrespective of religion, tribe or social strata.

The Governor stated that the State was heralding the birth of a new Nigeria that would be greater through its unity even in diversity.
