The decisive election was conducted on October 10, 2025, at the Women Development Centre, Abuja. It eventually narrowed down to two major contenders, Comr. Babangida Onimisi Isah and Comr. Ahmad Rufai Abubakar, with the process widely described as free, fair, transparent, and credible, culminating in the emergence of Comr. Babangida as the duly elected president.

In his inaugural speech, the newly elected NYCN President expressed profound gratitude to all delegates and supporters who placed their trust in him. He vowed never to betray their confidence, assuring that his administration will uphold the values of integrity, unity, and purposeful leadership for Nigerian youths.

Comr. Babangida further emphasized that in every youth-centered election, everyone is a winner, as the collective goal remains the advancement of the Nigerian youth. He extended an olive branch to his fellow contestant, Comr. Ahmad Rufai Abubakar, stating that leadership is a shared responsibility and pledging to work closely with him and others to take the affairs of Nigerian youths to enviable heights.

The NYCN President also reaffirmed his unflinching loyalty and support for the youth-friendly President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and pledging to support his re-election bid.

In a heartfelt note of appreciation, Comr. Babangida thanked his principal and benefactor, His Excellency, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman, Governor of Kogi State, for his unwavering guidance and support in making his dream a reality.

He also acknowledged his mentor, the Auditor-General for Local Governments, Hon. Siyaka Yakubu Adabenege (Fancy), whose wisdom and mentorship he credited as instrumental to his success.

Rounding off his remarks, Comr. Babangida expressed gratitude to his friend and pacesetter, Hon. Oladele John Nihi, and called on all elected executives, stakeholders, government agencies, and the Nigerian youth population to join hands with the NYCN leadership.

He urged collective efforts toward advancing peace, creating opportunities for young people, and discouraging violence and social vices across the nation.
