Ododo Donates Three Brand-New Buses to Kogi NLC, TUC, JNC

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has donated three brand-new buses to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) to support their operations.

Ododo announced the donation on Tuesday when he received the leadership of organised labour in the state at the Government House in Lokoja.

The delegation was led by the Kogi State NLC Chairman, Comrade Gabriel Amari, and included leaders of the TUC, JNC and other affiliate unions.

The labour leaders used the meeting to raise issues affecting civil servants and commend the administration for what they described as measures aimed at improving workers’ welfare.

Responding, Ododo thanked civil servants and organised labour for their cooperation and support for his administration.

The governor also commended his Special Adviser on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka, for his role in mediating between the government and labour unions.

Ododo disclosed that his administration had previously constituted a committee to examine various issues affecting civil servants in the state.

He assured the labour leaders that promises made to workers by the administration would be fulfilled.

The donation of the three buses, according to the governor, is intended to strengthen the operational capacity of the NLC, TUC and JNC.

Speaking during the meeting, Edoka thanked the governor for granting the labour leadership an audience and commended the administration over the regular payment of workers’ salaries and other welfare packages.

Amari also expressed appreciation to Ododo for addressing what he described as most of the challenges confronting the labour movement and civil servants in the state.

“We thank Governor Ododo for procuring three new buses and donating them to NLC,” Amari said.

The labour leadership subsequently pledged continued commitment to improved service and constructive engagement with the state government.
