Ogugu Development Union confers Award of Excellence in Leadership on Onoja

The Ogugu Development Union on Saturday conferred an Award of Excellence in Leadership on the deputy governorship candidate of the APC in the November governroship poll in Kogi State, Hon Edward Onoja.

The Award was presented on the occasion of the inaugural Ogugu Day Celebration which held at Ogugu Centre in Olamaboro Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking shortly after receiving the Award, Hon Onoja described it as a testament to his dedication to impacting the society positively and urged other award recipients at the event to task themselves to do for the people to ensure societal progress.

Hon Onoja, who used the event to also thank the Governor of the State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his pragmatism and dedication to engendering paradigm shift in leadership in Kogi State, said the people would never seize to appreciate him for the opportunity they have been given.

The President General of Ogugu Development Union, Mr Enemona Anyebe had earlier in his address expressed the community’s gratitude to Governor Bello for the opportunity he has given to Hon Edward Onoja to be part of his cabinet, saying that the gesture has etched his name in gold in their minds.

He particularly mentioned the conversion of Ogugu Community Secondary School to a Federal Government College of Science and Technology and the appointment of their sons and daughters into positions of trust as some of the things that have made the community indebted to the present administration, saying they were a community that reciprocate good gestures with rewards.

The President General also mentioned the reconstruction of Ogugu township roads, the Erosion Control projects in all parts of the community among others as some of the achievements of government that have made life meaningful for the people.

He however appealed to the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello to look into the issue of electrification while further stressing the need for government to assist other rural communities connected to Ogugu land with the infrastructure provided the central parts of the community.
