Ojukpo community pours gratitude on Governor Bello’s construction of Abocho – Ojukpo Road after over three decades abandonment

To the people of Ojukpo in Abocho Ward of Dekina Local Government Area in Kogi State, Governor Yahaya Bello is a saviour; thanks to the nod he gave for the construction of the only road linking them to the outside world.

They made their feelings known today, Tuesday, when the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Matters, Hon Omonu Joshua went to supervise the road project currently ongoing in the area.

They told our correspondent that the road had not witnessed any form of attention for over thirty years since the leadership of a deceased former Chairman of the LGA, John Utah.

Leader of the Community, the Gago, Nuhu Abuka could not contain his emotions as he poured out his heart, saying the government has won over the heart of the entire community for remembering them through the road project.

According to Mr Abuka, Ojukpo community has suffered several heartbreaks in the past as successful Chairmen and other political office holders in Dekina Local Government and the state have made promises of even grading the road which they have all failed.

He said the people are already filled with excitement as they are beginning to take their farm produce out of the community and people are beginning to travel to neighbouring areas and parts of the state with relative ease unlike the difficulty they faced in the past.

“Anywhere Governor Yahaya Bello goes is where we will go. We don’t care about anybody’s tribe or religion. We just want our community to be out of the woods because we are aware that development does not understand tongue and knows no creed.

“Another thing that brings pleasure to our hearts is that when completed, the road project would make it easy for government to also connect us to the power grid in the ongoing Operation Power Kogi East. Electricity and road are ingredients of development as far we are concerned.

‘When all these are achieved, other forms of socioeconomic development will begin to come to our community; a place that has been abandoned since the creation of Kogi State. With this, anywhere Governor Yahaya Bello goes is where we will go.”

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Matters, Hon Omonu Joshua expressed gratitude to Governor Bello and described him as a man with the heart of gold and dedication to ameliorate the sufferings of rural dwellers in the state.

Hon Omonu, who is also a son of the community noted that his people have been wailing about their plight which have fallen on deaf ears until the assumption of office by the present administration.

Also speaking, a community leader in the area, Monday Amade and a youth representative for the area, James Aruwa told our reporter that the community is prepared to sparehead the return of the Governor for another term owing to the unique feature of the roads construction.
