Okebukun High-School Principal, PTA lauds Gov Bello’s Education Projects, appeals for Immediate Completion, Opening of Classrooms
The Principal of Okebukun High School in Kabba/Bunu local government area of Kogi State, Hon.Owootomo Oshe Abodunde has commended the giant strides of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, in the education sector and in particular to the ongoing GYB Model Science Secondary School project which attended to the total overhauling of the school structures and reform ongoing in the school in the last 13months, which can be said to be 95% in Completion.
The Principal gave the commendation today Wednesday 6th of December, during a Convergence of the Parents Teacher’s Association [P.T.A]
Owootomo in his commendation speech to the parents and teachers present at the meeting said “talking about the issue of inconveniences of students in the classrooms, let me begin by saying we are very much aware of the daily complaints of your wards, our Students, and that of you the parents and guardians over the inconveniences in teaching and learning as a result of the glorious project embarked on by the State Government which brought us to this confined classrooms space in the temporary. While this complaints is understandable, you will agree with me that: “for a raw gold substance to become gold, it has to pass through the fire or heat”.This is our own heat of becoming a pure gold at the moment and I want you to know that you can not feel the heat better than those of us in the kitchen, Teachers and Students. And just like our School Motto:Education and Perseverance it has been a matter of perseverance in the last 13months (October 8th,2022) of commencement of this laudable project by His.Excellency.
“In the history of Kogi State, I say unequivocally that there have not been any government who had performed with a landmark achievements in the area of Education like His.Execellency Gov.bello in his last 7-8years of his administration; ranging from Education structural Development Projects which is evident here, Education-Academic reform, Teacher’s recruitment, School souvenirs among others.
All these are worthy of commendation and we call for a consolidation from his Successor.
In the same vein, it is worthy of note to appreciate our proactive Hon.Commisionner of Education, Hon.Wemi Jones who handled this Education commission with a Sense of Exceptionality.
Moving forward,the Principal also extended his appreciation to the Royal father of the community HRH.Oba Timothy Ige Omonile, The Olu of Okebukun. The Okebukun Development Association (ODA),The Parents and Teachers of this meeting and individuals who have see to the upkeep of this great citadel of learning.we appreciate you all. While I believe we do see through this sooner, We would also appeal to the State government for prompt action over these complaints and inconveniences we have been enthusiastically enduring so far, said the Principal.
The P.T.A chairman, Pst.Olowoniyi Kehinde who also spoke on behave of the Parents/Guardians commend the effort of Governor Bello for his kind gesture deeming it fit to embark on the extravagant school project and also appeal for immediate opening as they receive daily complaints from their wards of the inconveniences in learning especially at this winter period which birth hot Sun and heat during the day in a choked Classroom environment.
Parents also spoke in random to lend their voices in the commendation and appeal.
The School Principal concluded by saying, increased in Students population amidst the glorious project is what also contributed to the predicament at it peak,of the temporary classroom spaces in use.
