Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has said his administration has sustained efforts aimed at making the State a national model of love, unity, tolerance, and respect towards one another, despite ethnic and religious differences.

He spoke during the Inauguration of the Executive State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) held at Government House Chapel in Lokoja, on Thursday.

Governor Bello, who was represented by his Deputy, Chief (Dr.) Edward Onoja congratulated the new Kogi CAN Chairman, Special Apostolate (Dr.) Adebayo Olaniyan and his executives, urging him to bring his competence and experience in leading the Christian Umbrella body by promoting peace, love, and tolerance for adherents of other faiths.

He said no society grows without peace, saying he remains committed to providing leadership that inspires confidence in the people to work towards peaceful coexistence and development.

He opined that the Kogi State Inter-Religious Council (KOSIREC) must be upheld to promote greater interaction for sustainable peace and religious harmony in the State.

Speaking further, Chief Onoja expressed delight that Inauguration was the first of its kind in the Government House Chapel which itself, is a legacy of Governor Bello’s balanced nature.

He urged CAN to continually pray for Governor Bello and the New Direction Team to achieve more gains in the delivery of good governance to the people in critical areas of the Kogi Economy.

The Inauguration was attended by top government functionaries, with the Kogi State Chairman, Jamatul Nasril Islam (JNI), Alhaji Usman Bello, his executives; and other Christian clergymen in attendance.
