PAAU VC Salisu Ogbo Usman calls for unity and national development

PAAU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, has called for renewed commitment to unity, peace and national development as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

The Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, has urged Nigerians to renew their commitment to unity, peace, patriotism and responsible citizenship as the country marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

Prof. Usman made the call in an Independence Day message issued on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Senate, staff and students of PAAU, Anyigba, on Thursday.

He said the anniversary provides an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the country’s journey, acknowledge its challenges and renew their collective commitment to building a peaceful, united and prosperous nation.

According to the PAAU VC, Nigeria remains a country of immense potential, with significant human and natural resources, despite the socioeconomic challenges confronting it.

He said the resilience, creativity and determination of Nigerians continued to provide grounds for hope for a better future.

Prof. Usman urged Nigerians to remain committed to the ideals of unity, peace, patriotism, justice and responsible citizenship, stressing that nation-building requires the collective efforts of government, institutions, communities and individuals.

“We must, therefore, continue to work together, support constructive initiatives and contribute positively to the development of our dear nation,” he said.

The PAAU Vice-Chancellor also highlighted the role of education in national development, saying the university remained committed to academic excellence, research, innovation, character development and community service.

He said the institution was focused on producing graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to national and global development.

Prof. Usman expressed appreciation to the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, as well as the university’s Governing Council, Management, Senate, staff, students and other stakeholders for their dedication and cooperation towards the growth of the institution.

As Nigeria marks 66 years of independence, the PAAU VC called for renewed faith in the country and stronger bonds among citizens.

He said collective responsibility, mutual respect and sustained commitment to national development could help Nigerians contribute to building the country they desire.

Prof. Usman wished Nigerians a peaceful and memorable 66th Independence Anniversary and concluded his message with prayers for Prince Abubakar Audu University, Kogi State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
