President Buhari Congratulates Governor Bello on Winning Kogi APC Primary

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday congratulated the governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello for sustaining the confidence of his party members after winning the primary election adjudged to be free, fair and credible.

The meeting which was attended by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole was the first formal engagement between President Buhari and Governor Bello since the Governor’s overwhelming victory at the APC Primary election recently held in Kogi State.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the National Chairman Of The Party, Adams Oshiomhole described the meeting as fruitful and reassuring.

“The emergence of Governor Yahaya Bello at the primary is good for the people of Kogi State. Rather than trying to experiment with a new hand, Governor Bello has shown capacity and going forward, if there was any mistake in the past it will be corrected. I have passed through this process, second term is the time you do those legacy projects you would want to be remembered for. We have seen the candidate of the PDP. We are not going to walk over him. We will contest with him and we will defeat him fairly and squarely” Oshiomhole said.

While expressing optimism of his victory in the November 16 governorship election, Governor Yahaya Bello said he was not going to take anything for granted noting that he will come out victorious from the election.

“The people of Kogi State has seen my performance in the last three years in relations to the past administrations. The people of Kogi State have spoken in the last elections and they will speak loud on November 16 and we shall be victorious” Bello said.

Yahaya Bello had on August 29 emerged winner in the primary of the All Progressives Congress held in Lokoja, Kogi state capital.

Earlier on Thursday, National Working Committee of the party had on Thursday held a meeting with all aspirants for the Kogi 2019 primary election at the party headquarters in Abuja.

Briefing the newsmen after the meeting, the chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole said all aspirants have resolved to work for the success of the party in November.
