Presidential Media Tour: Kogi Information Commissioner Applauds President Tinubu for Increased Revenue to States

The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for making more funds available to states to execute projects that are driving transformative development and improving the lives of citizens.
Fanwo gave the commendation during the Presidential Media Tour in Mopa-Muro and Kabba/Bunu Local Government Areas, where he led the President’s media aides and members of the media crew to inspect completed and ongoing projects in Kogi West.
According to him, the increased financial support to sub-national governments has enabled Kogi State to deliver people-oriented projects across critical sectors.
“We thank Mr. President for always supporting us to deliver on our mandate to the people. This is also part of the Renewed Hope Agenda on healthcare delivery, bringing quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare closer to the people,” he said.
Speaking at Orokere-Amuro, the Commissioner disclosed that the Kogi State Government has ensured the provision of at least one Primary Healthcare Centre in every political ward across the state. He explained that work is ongoing in over 250 wards, with more than 200 projects already completed and delivered, while about 180 centres are currently operational.
He noted that the facilities are equipped with staff quarters, solar power systems and solar-powered refrigerators for vaccine preservation, ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services without relying on the national grid.
Fanwo further stated that children between the ages of zero and six, as well as pregnant women, receive free medical care in the facilities as part of the government’s efforts to reduce maternal and child mortality.
“We are upgrading our Primary Healthcare Centres across the state. We have brought you to this facility as a case study. Some of the programmes are supported by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency under the Federal Ministry of Health. While the state government is implementing its own interventions, the Federal Government is also providing support. The synergy between both governments is what is bringing quality healthcare closer to the grassroots,” he added.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Kogi State Government’s commitment to aligning with the reforms of President Tinubu, which he said are already yielding positive results across the country. He also assured the President of the state’s continued support ahead of the next general elections.
Speaking during the tour, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Special Duties, Hon. Tunde Rahman, who also serves as Director of Media and Publicity for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, said the visit was organised to inspect projects executed by both the Federal and Kogi State Governments.
Rahman described Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo as a humble and egalitarian leader whose administration has demonstrated purposeful leadership through impactful projects across the state.
He said the team had inspected Primary Healthcare Centres, road infrastructure, secondary schools, erosion control projects and the Kogi State University, Kabba, expressing satisfaction with the level of development recorded within a short period.
According to him, the impressive growth of the university, barely two years after its establishment, reflects the Governor’s commitment to expanding access to quality education.
Rahman added that the smooth operation of Kogi State’s three state-owned universities further demonstrates Governor Ododo’s passion for education and the welfare of the people.
He also applauded President Tinubu for the reforms that have expanded fiscal space for states, enabling them to undertake impactful developmental projects for the benefit of their citizens.
