The MD/CEO of Osaseyi Foundation, Mr Richard Osaseyi, has advised youths to toe the line of virtue in order to attain greatness.

Mr. Osaseyi said youths should shed the toga of being used mostly as ballot box snatchers and political thugs by politicians and concentrate on effectively participating in politics to gain political office and so make the necessary impact they crave.

He gave the advice during at the 3rd OJN Annual Symposium held yesterday in Lokoja, Kogi State.

The OJN Symposium is a yearly event put together by Ambassador Oladele John Nihi, the Vice President, Pan-African Youth Union (West Africa). At this year’s event, youth leaders and stakeholders from across Nigeria and Africa converged to discuss in-depth, issues affecting Nigeria and African youths under the theme The Political Atmosphere: Renegotiating the Place of Youths Through Commitment, Resilience, and Action.

Mr. Richard Osaseyi who was the Chairman of the event said that Nigerian youths in recent times have shown great concern about leadership issues in the country, with many raising their voices to make demands and seek improvement in leadership.

However, he maintained that despite these moves, youth concerns remain less a priority to the elites as they continue their strong hold on power to pursue selfish interests. He suggesting that the best way is for young people to make a statement was through active involvement, insisting that youths are ready for political office.

Commending the effort of governor Yahaya Bello in the just concluded APC presidential primaries, Osaseyi said the governor, despite not clinching the ticket of his party, succeeded in making a mark and increasing the consciousness of young people across the country, adding that Bello has established the platform upon which youths should launch themselves into the decision making processes of the country.

He praised Oladele John Nihi for always providing a platform for young people to interact and discuss about issues.
