RT Hon. Kolawole retains speakership position, promises not to disappoint

Honorable Mathew Kolawole, representing Kabba Bunu Constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly has retained the speakership postion for the 7th Assembly of the State’s legislature.

Kolawole emerged unopposed on Thursday at the inaugural session of the 7th Assembly after the resolution of the 6th Assembly in an election conducted with the legislative chambers.

The Speaker who was nominated by Hon. Bello Hassan Abdullahi of Ajaokuta State Constituency and seconded by Hon. Alfa Momoh Rabiu of Ankpa II State Constituency was declared winner by the clerk of the House after the nomination was closed without any other legislative member showing interest.

Honourable Ahmed Mohammed representing Ankpa 1 constituency was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the House, Honourable Bello Hassan Abdullahi of Ajaokuta State Constituency was elected as majority leader

Hon. Ndris Ndako of Lokoja II Constituency, Hon. Muktar Baje of Okehi State Constituency and Hon. Ododo Moses Idoko were elected as Deputy Majority Leader, Chief Whip and Deputy Chief Whip respectively.

In his acceptance speech after taking the oath of office, Speaker Kolawole thanked God Almighty for making such day a reality and his distinguished colleagues for finding him worthy to be elected as the Speaker of the House.

He also thanked the Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his love, concern, commitments and unalloyed supports and cooperation to the House.

The over joyed speaker also thanked his Family, Party leaders Executive Members, friends, supporters and well wishers for their prayers, support and encouragement.

Honourable Kolawole however promised not let anyone down, while he also appealed to hisColleagues to extend their hand of fellowship and cooperation toward him to facilitate team that would bring development to individual constituents and Kogi State at large.

He further advised that members should embrace tolerance, peace and harmony, integrity, fairness and productivity so that nothing would impair their vision towards making good laws for the good governance and the socio-economic development of Kogi State.
