Security: Be firm but civil in your operations- Gov Bello urges as he flags-off Exercise Enduring Peace II

Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello on Tuesday flagged off Exercise Enduring Peace II at the Joint Operations camp in Owunoh, along Ajaokuta – Okene highway, while he donated 10 million naira towards the operations.

According to the Commander, Command Army Records Major General S.I Igbinomwanhia who represented the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Farouq Yahaya at the flag, the exercise would checkmate security challenges during the festive seasons.

Governor Bello asserted that the exercise could not have come at a more auspicious and very important time than now when the nation was preparing to elect the next leader who would build on the legacy of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He appreciated the COAS for initiating the exercise in a bid to keep the criminals out of the state and the nation during the festive seasons promising that as a focal advocate of security he was always willing to lead the charge against criminals

Governor Bello asserted that Kogi was bordered by 10 states and with the support and understanding of the security formations security and safety of citizens have greatly improved, assuring that Kogi would remain a peaceful, safe and secured state.

He emphasized that If Kogi was in distress it would have effect on the nation, promising that he would continue to foster peace, unity and a smooth working relationship among all the security agencies in the state.

He tasked the security operatives to deal decisively with anyone caught in the act of crime, irrespective of their tribe, religion or political affinity adding that the security operatives should reject directives from authorised quarters while making the constitution the pivot of their operations.

In his opening address, Commander, Command Army Records Major General S.I Igbinomwanhia who represented the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Farouq Yahaya at the event explained that the exercise is an Army level exercise conducted at every last quarter of the year.

He mentioned that the exercise which was operational in other states would hold till the 22nd December involving joint Patrols, ambushes and raids of criminal hideouts through a joint task force drawn from every security operatives in the state working together in synergy to achieve the desired result.

He alluded that the exercise which was funded by the COAS would also involve medical outreaches in the host communities owing to the firm believe in the relevance of the host community and to also cement an existing Cordial relationship.
